The Extreme Hotel family is collective of small ethical businesses, dedicated to eco-sustainability, hiring and training local workers, supporting the community, while providing a fun, friendly atmosphere that keeps friends and family coming back year after year. We have worked hard building our businesses to what they are today and we’re happy to share our accomplishments with like-minded individuals

It is an ideal vacation for social conscious individuals who seek an active healthy lifestyle!
eXtreme Hotel is more than an adventure, sports and fitness hotel, it is a place where the values of sustainable and ecological tourism are always in the forefront, focused on remaining socially and ethically responsible and 100% sustainable.
Being socially and ecologically conscious is more than a motto at eXtreme Hotel, it’s an ethical way of doing business and a way of life
We are proud to be a Solar Powered Hotel. This is not an easy task to accomplish anywhere and in a remote part of a Caribbean island, with our humid, windy and salty weather it’s been a real challenge. But knowing we are minimising our carbon footprint and making a world difference has made all the effort worth it! Four separate solar power systems power all the rooms and amenities, it generates more than 600 gallons of hot water (so enough for everyone to shower as they please) and even powers the pool pump, which heavily reduces the chemical consumption! Our restaurant, La Mesa Taina, has DC powered freezers, further reducing our dependency on fossil fuel based power. The best part about solar power though? When the rest of the town is experiencing one of its frequent power outages, our solar energy system keeps on working!
Our onsite permaculture gardens and our off-site Organic Aquaponics Farm produce some of the organic food which you’ll find in our onsite restaurant, La Mesa Taina, to make sure you are provided with healthy, organic meals which are all locally grown.
Supporting the Local Community
One of our goals at the eXtreme Hotel is to empower the local community by giving back at all levels, from providing education to job opportunities to activities.
Locally Hired Staff
The eXtreme Hotel Collective is made up of international and local staff. We do our best to provide jobs to local Dominicans rather than bringing in only foreign workers, as many large resorts tend to do in developing countries. We actively work to combat that trend through training programs for dependable locals, providing them with needed skill sets to better themselves and their families. Our efforts have helped bring our internal staff numbers and that of the members of The eXtreme Hotel Collective to more than 80% Dominican.
We aim to provide learning opportunities for locals and tourist alike, so that we can spread the ideals of eco-friendly, sustainable tourism. Our organic farm offers farm tours where you can learn about sustainable agriculture, and interested parties are welcome to apply for our Internship Program.
Conscious Use of Resources
At the Extreme Hotel we use low wattage light bulbs, low energy consumption fans in all our rooms and low flow water taps in the bathrooms. We appreciate all efforts made by our guests to help minimize energy consumption and encourage guests to help by doing little things like turning off appliances and lights when they leave the room. It is a conscience ongoing effort made by us all to use as little energy as possible and to be one with our environment. We have multiple rainwater collection systems to use for our gardens and hotel maintenance, we also work hard to manage the water consumption of the hotel.
When it comes to housekeeping, we hang dry the laundry and use environmentally conscious cleaning products. One of the most important things we’ve done is change our daily room cleaning to every-other-day room cleaning, as daily cleaning is one of the biggest wastes of natural resources in the hotel industry. Our guests have fully supported our decision and we thank you all for keeping your space tidy so we can keep our water use down.
The hotel is also purposefully not air-conditioned. We’re on an incredibly windy beach and our building was designed with a natural cooling and intelligent ventilation system in place, maximizing the circulation of the year-round winds. Reflective paint and lots of green vegetation also help to reduce the heat during the hottest months.
Working together with our organic farm we have planted over 2,000 trees, further offsetting our carbon emissions. That’s more than any other hotel in the regi
